I am very happy to announce a new category on MIB called Arupa Mission Research Foundation. Arupa Mission Research Foundation is an NGO based in Orissa. I am sure many of you will be wondering what an NGO category is doing on an investment website. Well I look at in a different way…… I feel investing our time and money for a social cause is also a form of investment which will give us good returns in kind- a) precious blessings that we will get from the underprivileged b) blessings from God c) an opportunity to stand for a noble cause and make a difference in someone’s life. I guess this is the best form of investment one should invest in for preparing for bringing about social change for the better of all and a good heavenly life after death which I am sure we all want.

I always wanted to be a part of a good social cause and when I met Sonali Patnaik who is a Social Development Specialist at Arupa Mission Research Foundation the idea of providing their NGO with a free category on MIB and thus being a part of a social cause immediately came to my mind. Reliance Power will be giving away its shareholders 3 bonus shares for every 5 Reliance Power shares they hold. The board of directors of Reliance power in a meeting held today considered and approved the bonus issue which excludes the promoters. The cost of acquisition of Reliance Power shares Post bonus issue will come down to Rs 269 for Reliance Power retail shareholders and Rs 281 for Reliance Power institutional investors.

Sensex crashed over 600 pts on Thursday 9th Feb 2008, the news that the Indian economy was likely to grow 8.7% in the current fiscal year slower then the last year’s 9.6% was one of the many reason which lead to the market fall. News is that the sudden selling pressure becoz of basket selling by one swiss bank that according to the market was in trouble because of its huge exposure to the us subprime sector and FIIs selling net shares worth Rs.860 crore on Thursday also added to the selling pressure.
